Relax and enjoy tromping through the path, let our guides point out interesting geologic changes, plant uses, and discover which animals were on the trail before you. Our specialties? Beginner 1-mile Loop: Getting out in nature is easy with this relaxed trail cram-packed with interesting history. Wonder past droves of wild rhododendron, old growth forests, and learn how a Tsunami created this beautiful place over 500 years ago! This is a great hike to add on after our 2 hour kayak trips to make a ½ day full of fun!
Native Medicinal Plants & History (moderate): Highlights include: a rescued covered bridge, gorgeous waterfall, and beautiful suspension bridge crossing a gorge 100 ft in the air! Not to be missed, this is quintessential Oregon!
Conservancy Hike: Need a more difficult hike? Our guides will take you on a steep hike to a 270 acre nature conservatory where you will climb an elevation of 1,200 ft in just 4.5 miles. Learn about plants and wildlife, while traveling past the Salmon River Estuary into a lush Northwest forest, and out to the flower-filled meadows and breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and river below. Get a glimpse of the elusive Silver spotted Butterfly, a threatened species known to only 5 locations in the world.
Tidepooling: Ever go to a tidepool and not know what you are looking at? Allow our guides to take you through the mystery of life on the sea floor. See an octopus in its natural habitat, touch a sea cucumber, and learn about all the different invertebrates that depend on this very delicate ecosystem.
Whale Watching:
Have you ever been fluked? Experience a unique voyage with Captain Carrie Newell as you learn the name and personal history of each gray whale you encounter.
